Casual Menswear Designer

Menswear Designer

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and commercial menswear designer to join a well established supplier of apparels to the UK high street. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong trend driven handwriting with a commercial eye, ideally within the casual menswear (shirts mainly) area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research global trends, colors, and fabrics to inform seasonal direction and concept boards.

  • Design commercially viable casual shirts 

  • Create and present design boards, CADs, and range plans for internal and external presentations.

  • Work collaboratively with fabric sourcing teams to select appropriate fabrics and trims.

  • Develop technical design packs (tech packs) with detailed specifications and construction notes.

  • Partner with overseas suppliers and factories during development and sampling.

  • Review and provide feedback on proto samples, attending fit sessions when needed.

  • Maintain awareness of competitor activity and identify opportunities for differentiation.

  • Assist in fabric, wash, and finish development suitable for casual product ranges.

  • Support sustainability and innovation initiatives in fabric and product development.

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Fashion Design or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in designing casual shirts garments either in a UK based supplier or within a high street retailer

  • Strong trend forecasting ability and commercial awareness.

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and Photoshop).

  • Experience with PLM systems and creating detailed tech packs.

  • Strong fabric and garment construction knowledge, particularly in woven textiles

  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Experience working with international supply bases and understanding of the sampling process.
