- Description
- A large multi-site apparel manufacturer is seeking a Sustainability Manager to lead their Sustainability programs. Turning over $200M, the business manufacturers woven and knitted garment sold to US and European retailers and brands.
The position is based in Gurugram, India
Sustainability Manager: The Role:
- Manage and implement the overall Sustainability goals of the business in partnership with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders
- Develop and implement sustainability programs that will bring measurable operational, environmental and social benefits for the company that drives business value
- Work closely with buyers to ensure that in-house operations and manufacturing process is way ahead of their sustainability goals
- Work closely with buyers and in-house commercial and product development teams to develop products that are fit for a circular fashion economy
- Ensure raw materials are sustainably sourced
- Ensure raw material origin data is accurately filed in line with the needs of customer’s compliance teams
- Ensure internal processes including staff processes provide a safe and equal working environment
- Research sustainability fashion trends in the market, identify new opportunities and translate into proactive actions
- Develop and nurture in-house sustainability culture and work practices through campaigns, projects, trainings etc
Sustainability Manager: The Person:
- Previous experience in Sustainability with apparel manufacturing or with a apparel retailer/brand/supplier
- Strong know-how on apparel manufacturing /production processes
- Strong communicator with capacity to guide and persuade a wide range of stakeholders
- Well organised
- Experience in delivering presentations to stakeholders (buyers)
- Collaborative team player with good interpersonal skills
- Good command over spoken and written English
