A mid-sized Dutch supplier is seeking an experienced Product Developer to join their growing team in Amsterdam

About the Business

Our client is a multi-product supplier of apparel and soft accessories to speciality retailers, department stores, fashion forward super and hyper markets across Europe and Middle East. Turning over €70M, their customers include C&A, H&M, Inditex Group (Zara, Bershka), El Corte Inglais, NewYorker, Carrefour, Zalando, Landmark Group etc. 

They source their products mainly from China, India and Bangladesh. For quicker turnaround orders, they rely on Turkey, Portugal and East European countries (Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova).

Product Developer: The Role:

• Manage the whole Sample Development process from checking Tech Packs, negotiating price, selecting the factory/sample room,  managing its critical path, check quality, fit etc of the received sample, to manage the liaison with the customer until "sample approved" status
• Work closely with the Sourcing Team to build a "ready to go" network of factories/sample rooms/suppliers
• Research product and trim trends from catwalks, tradeshows and present throughout the season
• To help source and develop trims, fabrics and new garment trends
• Work closely with suppliers to find new product opportunities and support product development projects
• Reviewing products margins, and where possible suggest alternative base/trims/suppliers/techniques to ensure improved results.
• Improving supplier strategies and sample lead time / prices by suggesting new factories and new ways of working

Product Developer: The Person:

The ideal candidate

• Will have experience as a Apparel or Accessories Product Developer gained preferably with a supplier
• Will have experience in sample development with far east factories/manufacturers
• Will be highly organised and be able to prioritise and manage workload autonomously
• Will be a self starter and be able to work with minimal supervision
• Will have an eye for fashion and have excellent communication skills
