Head of Buying 

A large and successful apparel retailer with 1000+ stores in China is seeking a Head of Buying (expat) for one of their casual menswear brands. The role is to manage the buying and sourcing of casual menswear (apparels) in China. The role is based in Beijing.  

The ideal candidate will be Buying Manager/Head of Buying with strong product and business sense in the mass market brand segment, ideally with solid experience in Europe.

Head of Buying: The role:

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the Buying and Merchandising strategy across all categories 
• Introducing new product strategies to tap into changing market dynamics
• Managing a team of category managers/senior buyers and take full ownership of seasonal buying strategies to drive volume and OTB
• Set performance benchmarks in buying, sourcing practices, ensuring the highest standards in quality and sustainability
• Taking ownership of branded as well as private labels, establish go to market strategy for all new launches
• Reporting to the Buying Director

Head of Buying: The ideal candidate:

• The ideal candidate will be an experienced buyer with management experience, ideally within large retail organisations and preferably within the ‘mid high street'/commercial category segment, in European markets. You could also come from a Sourcing background, having worked for a European/US brand with extensive experience in sourcing from China
• You will be willing to take on a new challenge and be the key driver of the product strategy 
• You will have a collaborative personality, be able to manage an international team, be receptive to ideas and new ways of working. 
• You will have a global mindset, be able to take a fresh view on new markets, new trends
• You will be highly commercial and competitive, be ahead of the curve and a visionary from a product strategy point of view.
• You will have a sharp business acumen and a broad skill set in management within large matrix structures
