Description

Head of Finance and Operations

A UK based clothing supplier is seeking a Head of Finance and Operations for their own manufacturing unit in Noida, India. The unit produces ~£4M FOB of garments for the UK market.

The Head of Finance and Operations will directly manage the finance team, and up to eight managers across the business. They will be the responsible person for all day-to-day business decisions, including staffing, operational and procedural decisions; updating the UK team regularly and escalating any concerns as appropriate. The role reports to the UK Finance Director.

Head of Finance and Operations: The Role:

The Head of Finance and Operations will oversee, manage and analyse the financial activities of the business and subsequently provide advice and guidance to the management in the UK on future financial plans. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the financial health of the company by ensuring that all processes and systems meet financial and legal obligations, and that full financial control is exercised over the company’s assets and liabilities, this includes:

  • Responsible for preparation of monthly and annual Financial statements as per applicable accounting standards.
  • Tracking cash flow and analysing the company’s financial strengths and weaknesses, whilst proposing corrective actions
  • Leading the processes and preparation of financial budgets and forecasts
  • Direct and participate in cost analysis reviews, providing regular detailed reports to all stakeholders
  • Negotiate contract/service/loan/credit terms with outside financial agencies, regularly reviewing contracts
  • Establishing and maintaining good relationships with external partners, stakeholders and investors 
  • Assist the department heads in various projects as required. Including Project cost control, profitability analysis, Project resource deployment analysis & Invoicing follow up
  • Develop and maintain best practice reporting, ensuring that the company’s financial practices adhere to the statutory regulations and legislation.
  • Document procedures and policies, to support the business with risk and compliance while strengthening internal controls
  • Coordinate preparation for external audits and external financial reporting, including assisting with the preparation and filing of returns for sales tax, Income tax, Excise and other forms of taxes and charges.
  • Support, build and develop the finance and administration team whilst overseeing their day-to-day financial operations such as ledger maintenance, journals, invoicing and payroll 

Head of Finance and Operations: The Person:

  • The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience in a management position, who can demonstrate a track record of providing strategic support to senior leadership.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in apparel or textile manufacturing
  • Experience and knowledge of both UK and local working practices to ensure the company is operating in line with local laws/regulations as well as applicable UK laws/regulations; supporting a consistent, compliant and productive working relationship between its UK counterpart
  • Excellent analytical skills and exceptional numerical proficiency 
  • Ability to confidently and effectively liaise both written and verbally, with English and Hindi-speaking colleagues
  • In-depth understanding of complex financial policies
  • Knowledge of database technologies and software 
  • Good strategic thinking skills and the ability to make effective business decisions
  • Able to drive change and look for operational efficiencies in the organisation
  • Excellent team player, leadership and management skills
