The Business
Our client is a mid-sized apparel supplier to the US and European markets. They are seeking a Product Development Manager for their Sri Lankan offices. The role will be to manage the product development out of Sri Lanka in close collaboration with their design team and customers.
Product Development Manager: The Role
- Develop and source new and exciting productc types from all over Asia that align with your customer base.

Work with Designer to drive innovation and advise of new product development, processes and print technique through in country suppliers
- Independently research the latest trends in the market
- Prepare for all buying trips and product presentations
- Communicate with the management discuss new briefs and to update them with the latest information from your suppliers
- Work closely with your supply base to find new product opportunities and support any product development requirements
- Liaise with fabric and trim suppliers/teams for sourcing requests ensuring to manage deadlines

Manage the critical path for Lab dip, trim, fabric through to proto sample approval. Overall responsibility for the entire sample development process
- Investigate existing supply chain and new suppliers for product development and manage 3rd party relationships with trim suppliers, fabric mills and factories

Ensure consistent quality standards across all collections
Product Development Manager: The Person
The ideal candidate will
- have prior experience in design or product development within the US, UK/European kidswear market
- have good knowledge of design and product development – including fabric composition and garment construction

have excellent communication skills to work across all functions to ensure the best product offer
- be resourceful, organized, energetic, analytical and competent.
- be able to work under pressure and achieve deadlines. A self starter and problem solver
